onStage at Connecticut College presents BélO — Haitian Singer/Songwriter

BélO has been hailed as Haiti’s musical ambassador to the world. A young, socially conscious singer/songwriter with a sophisticated sound, he has won numerous awards, including the prestigious Prix Radio France International Discoveries of 2006. His musical style, known as “Ragganga,” combines reggae, jazz, rock, worldbeat and “Rara” traditional Vodou rhythms. He sings in his rich and colorful native language, Haitian Creole. BélO is a sensitive messenger who, with his melodies, knows how to touch audiences from the Americas to Europe to Africa, 8 p.m., Evans Hall in Cummings Arts Center.
