The Seraphim Consort in Concert
TIME: 4:00 pm
The Seraphim Consort, under the direction of Robin M. Crandall, will present a concert at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Union Baptist Church in Mystic. The Consort will play a varied repertoire including classical music from the Baroque era, folk songs, ragtime and jazz. The concert is interactive and is appropriate for both adults and children.
The Seraphim Consort is a voluntary organization which exists primarily to educate young people and adults about Early Music and the instruments that were used at that time, specifically the recorder family and the harpsichord family. Since the recorder is often taught in elementary school many children are familiar with the soprano instrument, but never hear or see the other members of the family and rarely, if ever, see or hear a harpsichord in a live performance.
Joan Cook returns to the Consort to serve as accompanist on harpsichord, piano and organ. Zuckermann Haprsichords Inc., under the leadership of Richard Auber, is back on board to support the consort by providing a virginal for this concert. The members of the consort, Clare Rogers, Abby Rogers, Zachary Adamson, Jane Coates, Taennyr O’Reilly and Tate McDonnell range in age from 10 and adult.
A free will offering will be collected to help support the Union Baptist Church Steeple Fund.
