Art Exhibits/Openings
Friday TIME: 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
October 5th through January 15th Celebrations Gallery & Shoppes sold wooden matches in decorative boxes and Colonial Candles Votives for $10 each for their 2nd annual, “Keep the Home Fires Burning” community fundraiser to help more than 10,000 local families who needed heating assistance this winter. Through Celebrations efforts, we are pleased to announce 100% of the $3754.70 raised this year will be donated to help Access help local families purchase fuel to heat their homes. This is a significant increase from the $2,300 from last year! Jean Barton of Celebrations will present Access with the funds this Friday, January, 25, 2013 at 1 PM located at 330 Pomfret Street (RT 169), Pomfret Center. Access administers the CT Energy Assistance Program for Windham and Tolland County. Last year we provided assistance to over 8,000 homes.
Shirley Riemann, Director of Community Services, could not be more thrilled with the increase in support, even in these tough economic times she notes soberly, “The basic fact is the need to assist these families continues to grow, all while the price of oil continues to climb”. Contact Shirley at 860-412-1603 or shirley.riemann@accessagency.org to find out ways you can help.
Access and Celebrations thanks the Pomfret School's Community Service Club for helping wrap the candles and matches for customers' gift-giving convenience. And, “Thank You” to Colonial Candles, founded in Cape Cod over 100 years ago, and made in the USA, who generously donated a percentage of the candles to support this effort.
