On Sunday, October 30, from 1pm to 3pm, Friends of Riverside is sponsoring Sunday at the Fisherman with Charles Read & Friends at the Portuguese Fisherman in Hodges Square.
Charles Read, the author of Around the Square - My New London Yesteryears, will be the main guest and will share some of his memories of growing up in the Hodges Square neighborhood.
& Friends refers to those candidates for elective office in New London who oppose the sale of Riverside Park.

Up Or On The Rocks, 50 Union Street, Hartford, CT
On Sunday October 30th, Downtown Alternative Nights will host a Halloween Pub Crawl geared towards Connecticut’s gay community. The event will span downtown Hartford once it starts at Koji Yakitori Sake Bar, just off the corner of Main Street and Asylum. From there it will continue to McKinnon’s Irish Pub, The Asylum Café, One Eleven Lounge, and will conclude at Up or On The Rocks at the end of Allyn Street.
Along the way there will be t-shirts for all participants, drink and food specials, give-a-ways, and costume contests awarding cash prizes. Participants may register at Koji between 6:30PM - 8:00PM, or pre-register on Facebook before 5:00PM on the day of the event.

Don’t miss Make Your Own Scarecrow at Bishop’s Orchards. The family event takes place every Saturday and Sunday in October as well as Columbus Day, from 10-5. It includes face-painting, glitter tattoos, and a free cupcake with each scarecrow! Proceeds support the CDR, a not-for-profit serving over 4,000 meals/month. To celebrate Halloween, The Ocean House screens Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas". In the claymation film, the characters from Halloween Town try to take over Christmas, giving the merry holiday a spooky twist.
Before the film, enjoy a dinner buffet inspired by the movie. Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes.

Direct from the Althorp Estate in England comes an award-winning exhibition featuring more than 150 personal objects celebrating the life and work of Diana, Princess of Wales, including her royal wedding gown, 28 designer dresses, family heirlooms, personal mementos, and rare home movies. This will be the only Northeastern engagement.

The Brooklyn Bridge was created in 1968 when two bands, The Rhythm Method and The Del-Satins featuring Johnny Maestro, merged. From the late 1950s to the early 1960s, Johnny Maestro was the lead many artists most notably with Dion, on his solo hits including "The Wanderer" and "Runaround Sue" and many others. The Rhythm Method was 7-piece local Long Island band popular on the local club circuit. Known for their trademarks of strong vocal and horn arrangements, The Brooklyn Bridge recorded hit after hit beginning with their first gold record for Jimmy Webb's, "The Worst That Could Happen." Other hits include "Welcome Me Love," "Blessed Is The Rain" and "Your Husband, My Wife." The Band's countless television appearances include The Ed Sullivan Show.
