Opening reception on Friday, August 10 from 6-8pm. Gallery hours are Monday-Saturday 10 am-5 pm, Sunday 1-5 pm. Admission is free but a $5 donation is suggested.

he United States Coast Guard Band presents an open-air Labor Day concert at Fort Trumbull State Park at 3 p.m. Sunday. Commander Kenneth Megan leads the band in this end of summer celebration. The concert is highlighted by the annual performance of Tchaikovsky’s “1812” Overture, which includes cannon-fire provided by The Artillery Company of Newport, R.I.
The program includes a sampling of music by famed American composer, John Williams. The Band performs his stirring fanfare “Summon the Heroes” featuring Musician First Class Tom Brown on trumpet, and “Adventures on Earth,” the endearing music from “E.T.” Young and old alike will recognize “Raider’s March” from the popular “Indiana Jones” series. Clarinet Soloist, Chief Musician Chantal Hovendick takes the stage in “Viktor’s Tale,” also by Williams. Soprano Soloist Musician First Class Megan Weikleenget shines with three standards culminating in “L-O-V-E” by Nat King Cole. Also on the program is a toe-tapping set by the Coast Guard Dixieland Jazz BandFree concert

WALKING TOURS TO BEGIN JUNE 23-24

Two newly developed walking tours will be offered to the public for the first time on the weekend of June 23-24, and will run through mid-September.

Historic Guilford Walking Tours are Saturdays and Sundays at 11:00 a.m., and will focus on Guilford’s history on the Green and areas east, with an introduction to downtown’s house museums.

Tours focusing on Guilford’s architectural heritage will be Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 p.m., and will take place on the Green and neighborhoods west.

All tours will meet in front of Town Hall, 31 Park St., and will be led by enthusiastic high school tour guides/researchers. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and children 7-11, and $20 per family. Group tour rates are available upon request.
